Tuesday the 1st of September was a very special day, with Dr Peter Jurcevic performing Victoria’s 1st Twin Maternally Assisted Caesarean. In fact, it was one of TWO twin Maternally Assisted Caesareans performed by Dr Jurcevic that day, with both sets of twins born just hours apart at Frances Perry House in Melbourne.
Both twin Maternally Assisted Caesareans were captured on film, and each video below shows the mothers (Connor video 1 and Caitlin video 2) reaching down and bringing their twin babies straight up to their chest for immediate bonding.
In addition to immediate bonding, the Maternally Assisted Caesarean offers delayed cord clamping and is a wonderful way to help a woman interact with her birth process.
The twin Maternally Assisted Caesarean Births featured in The Herald Sun on Sunday the 6th of September, 2020.
And proud mother of the 1st twin Maternally Assisted Caesarean in Victoria, Connor Kennedy, generously shared her experience of the birth on 3AW Afternoons with Dee Dee on the 11th September.
